Direct cable is an ideal short-distance connection solution to replace optical transceivers. It can be divided into two categories: high-speed cable (DAC) and active optical cable (AOC). With cheap price, easy use and other advantages, it has been widely concerned by people. Now, with the wide use of 40G network, QSFP+ direct connection cable is also gradually popular. Now T&S will introduce the common QSFP+ direct cable solutions in the market in detail through this article.

40G QSFP+ AOC adopts optical cable as the transmission medium, which has the characteristics of lightweight and long transmission distance. In addition, there is also no need to worry about electromagnetic interference (EMI) when using an active cable.

    1. 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ AOC

Like 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ DAC, this active optical cable (AOC) is preterminated with two QSFP+ fiber transceivers at both ends. The transmission distance of our 40G AOC can reach more than 100m, but the price is higher than that of high-speed cable.

    2. 40G QSFP+ to 4XSFP + AOC

The active optical cable is preterminated with a QSFP+ fiber optical transceiver at one end and preterminated with 4 10G SFP+ optical transceivers at the other end. It can also be used for 10G and 40G network connections, but they can travel much longer than high-speed cables.

QSFP+DAC high-speed cables and AOCs are essential components of 40G networks. These optical devices can help you save a lot of network deployment costs.
