In the data center field, the MPO fiber cable is widely used to connect a server, switch, and storage device to enable high-speed data transmission. At the heart of the MPO fiber cable is the MT ferrule, which plays a central role as a critical component in both multi-fiber connectors and high-speed optical transceiver. In the age of AI, the MT ferrule has become one of the most prominent components.

The key technologies of the MT ferrule include precision injection molding, guide pin design, end-face grinding and polishing, and inspection techniques — all of which require extremely high precision. The MT ferrule is typically manufactured using an injection molding process with a metal mold structure. Its V-groove at the front precisely positions the central pin, allowing for accurate alignment. By ensuring reliable connection through guide pin and pin hole, the MT ferrule enables high-density, high-speed transmission.

Data Center and AI Computing Center

The MT ferrule, as the core of a high-density optical connector, is widely applied in high-speed optical interconnect scenarios within a data center or AI computing center. It supports the connection between a server, storage device, and network switch to ensure fast data transfer and efficient processing.

Optical Transceiver and Active Optical Cable (AOC)

The MT ferrule is also used in the production of high-speed optical transceiver and AOC. It is essential for improving data transmission speed and maintaining system stability.

    Consumer Electronics

In devices such as a smartphone, tablet, and wearable device, the MT ferrule is favored for its compact size and high-density design. It provides fast, accurate connectivity within space-constrained environments.

    Automotive Electronics

In automotive applications — including in-vehicle infotainment systems and autonomous driving sensors — the MT ferrule supports smart and automated functions through its reliable optical connection.

    Medical Equipment

In portable medical instruments and remote monitoring devices, the MT ferrule helps ensure the high performance and reliability of the system, supporting the precise transmission of medical data.

With its high density, miniaturized structure, and excellent performance, the MT ferrule from T&S plays a vital role across various sectors. Whether in cloud computing, AI, automotive, or healthcare, the MT ferrule continues to be a foundational technology driving the evolution of next-generation optical communications.
