Our OM1 mode conditioning cable enables the conversion of a singlemode signal for transmission over multimode fiber, ensuring accurate data transfer in Gigabit Ethernet 1000Base-LX (1300nm) applications. It replaces standard equipment-to-cable plant patch cords in routers and switches, reducing bit errors caused by Differential Mode Delay (DMD).
By offsetting the singlemode fiber core within the multimode fiber, this cable minimizes signal distortion, allowing for extended transmission distances. The singlemode/multimode end connects directly to the equipment, while the duplex multimode end links to the cable plant.
Available with LC, SC, or ST connectors and in various lengths, mode conditioning cables are typically used in pairs—one at each end of the connection. They support Gigabit Ethernet at 850nm and 1300nm and are compatible with VCSEL laser sources on standard multimode fiber. Contact us for custom configurations to meet your network requirements.
